Attracted by the drawings of First World War nurse Constance Bailward (currently displayed in Wincanton Library, and attracting many visitors), we in the museum had no idea of the life she went on to live. Read what we discovered.
Major Resurfacing on A303 Between Wincanton & Mere
On Wednesday 10th September the Highways Agency started work to resurface a major section of the busy A303 London to Plymouth road. The work relates to sections of the dual carriageway (East and West) between Mere and Wincanton.
Car Treasure Hunt with Hog Roast & Live Music
Wincanton Tennis Club is raising funds for the resurfacing of their courts. They have organized a Family Fun Car Treasure Hunt on Saturday 4th October, followed by a hog roast and live music at Wincanton Sports Ground.

Fenton Rutter Remembered
Fenton Rutter, the well known retired Wincanton solicitor, died recently at the age of 92. The fifth generation of Rutters to run his family business, his funeral took place in the Parish Church on Thursday 7th August.
Repairs Begin on Wall at St Peter and St Paul’s Church
After much delay and frustration, work has now begun to repair the damage from one of Wincanton's more notorious recent incidents. Repairs to the entry wall at St. Peter and St. Paul's Church, Wincanton, will take place over the next month or two.
Tennis Marathon on Sunday in Support of Court Resurfacing
On Sunday 24th August Dan Cahill, the new Tennis Coach at Wincanton Tennis Club, will be undertaking a non-stop tennis marathon from 8am to 8pm to raise funds for the courts' resurfacing.
