New Team Wins Tournament for Wincanton Town FC (Youth Section)
A new team has arrived at Wincanton Town FC (Youth Section), and on Saturday 14th June they brought home more silverware when they entered the Under 13s section of the Henstridge FC 5-a-side Tournament.

Charity Line Dancing Evening to Raise Funds for Community Defibrillators
To help raise funds for access to defibrillators for Wincanton, Bruton and Castle Cary, Brue Valley Rotary club has arranged a fun evening of line dancing on Friday 4th July, to be led by international choreographer Karl-Harry Winson.

A student who has attended Wincanton Karate Club for almost 18 years has been promoted to 4th Dan after a successful grading by Sensei Chris Thompson (8th Dan).

Thanks to the fantastic generosity of friends, family and colleagues, the hike Jonathan Astill and Simon Lynch took last week, coast to coast across Devon via the Two Moors Way, has currently raised over £1600 for Rebuild Balud.
WW1 Heritage Day on 5th July – Sketches of Wartime Wincanton
On Saturday 5th July Wincanton will hold a World War One Heritage and Arts project. There will be lots of displays and activities taking place in the Balsam Centre, the Library and the Museum.

The 2013/14 season has been very successful for Wincanton Town FC (Youth Section), with two of our teams not only winning their respective leagues and League Knockout Cups, but our Under 16's also won the Yeovil Youth Football Shield.
Mayfly in the Classroom - 2014 VIDEO
C.A.T.C.H. has begun its 2014 endeavours with a fabulous activity for the kids. With help from the Wild Trout Trust, a sizable group of Horsington Primary School children were taken down to the River Cale to collect unhatched Mayfly eggs to be taken back to their classroom, hatched and returned to the river days later.

Captain Phillips - Final Film Society Screening for this Season
On Wednesday 18th June Wincanton Film Society will be showing Captain Phillips as the last film of the 2013/14 season. The evening will begin 30 minutes earlier than usual, making time for the AGM before the movie starts.

The crash of an American Flying Fortress has gone down in local folklore and is always commemorated by Wincanton Royal British Legion. The 70th anniversary of the crash will take the form of a Service of Thanksgiving on Sunday 22 June.

Coast to Coast Walk to Help Rebuild Typhoon-Ravaged Balud
We shall be walking coast-to-coast across Devon via the Two Moors Way in early June to raise money to help rebuild Balud village in the Phillipines. The people here, where I have family, lost everything in a typhoon in 2013.
