The work of the Friends of Wincanton Community Hospital has brought many improvements to hospital buildings, medical equipment and the comfort of patients. Join them on Saturday 13th July for their Summer fete and help to raise more money for the good of the hospital.
Bridge Over the A303 - Six Week Closure from 8th July
For months we have all experienced the temporary traffic lights and lane restriction on the A303 Bridge when driving to all points West. Work on the bridge will commence on 8th July and will involve a six-week closure and disruptive diversions.

Young People Attend Flying Fortress Crash Memorial
On 25th June 1944 an American B17 Flying Fortress crashed at Snag Farm, Stoke Trister killing all nine crew members. This year students from King Arthur’s Community School joined members of the Royal British Legion for the annual commemoration.
Successful Fete Celebrates Completed Church Roof Repairs
A celebration fete took place at St Peter & St Paul's Parish Church on Saturday 8th June, the first of three events to mark the completed church roof repairs. The various fundraising events taking place on the day raised nearly £1,300.

Castle Cary Bridge Repairs by Network Rail
Network Rail is due to commence extensive bridge repair work on the railway bridge at Castle Cary as of 8th July. This will take place over a period of 19 weeks and the planned diversion will cause considerable disruption.
Wincanton Swimming Club Competes in Jurassic League Gala
On Saturday 15th June WSC competed in the 3rd Gala of this year's Jurassic League Series, coming 4th in a strong field. The annual series features local competitive swim teams from Blandford, Durrington, Ilminster, Bridport and HMS Heron.

New Local Book - Cycling the Somerset & Dorset Railway
The Somerset and Dorset Railway, which ran from Bath to Bournemouth and closed in 1966, ran straight through the area covered by Wincanton Window. A new book follows the route and examines possibilities for walkers and cyclists in the future.
