Lots of visitors at the Parish Church fete

Saturday 8th June, the sun is shining and there is a host of activity all around the church inside and out. After several months of planning and preparation the day has arrived; it is the day of the Celebration Fete. Stalls are popping up everywhere, cakes arriving, ladies preparing teas and biscuits. The sound man has arrived and it is action all over. This is the first of three events to celebrate the finishing of the church roof repair, after the church being out of action for about seven months.

Fete preparations

Stalls of cakes, water and wine, tombola, jewellery, plants, and many more. 10.00am and the people start to come in and the chink of money being taken is sounding really good; lots of laughter and fun being had all around the church path. We cannot believe the glorious sunshine as well, every sign of it being a lovely hot day. Christine and her team have now started selling their hotdogs, popcorn and candy floss. They are doing really well.

The raffle is going well and there are lots of lovely prizes.

Wincanton Primary School Country Dancers performing

At 11.00am the children from Wincanton Primary School started to arrive as they were dancing at 11.30am. The children love to do their country dancing and they are all in the lovely outfits they wear for this. Lots of parents come to watch and support.

It was a wonderful time, with a lovely sunny, friendly atmosphere all around for everyone taking part, whether helping or just being there to support us all.

Stall at the Parish Church fete

Sadly, 1.30pm came and most people had drifted away, so we started the sad job of packing everything away and the task of counting up how much money was made.

The amount made at the fete was £1,290.60, which was a very good total; everybody who was involved was delighted.

We now all had to go home and start preparing for the concert of Thanksgiving in the evening.
