Elderly Dog Walker Dies After Hit-and-Run Incident in Bruton UPDATED
On the evening of 14th October an elderly gentleman walking to his local shop with his dogs was hit by a vehicle on Cole Road, Bruton. Despite attention at the scene he later died of his injuries.

South Street, Wincanton, to Close for Six Days
On 27th October yet more road works come to Wincanton. The top of South Street will be closed from the Market Place junction for six days to allow essential drainage work to be completed.
A303 Resurfacing Now Extended From Wincanton to Sparkford
More road works on the A303 will follow on from the current works. The new works between Wincanton and Sparkford are due to start on 15th October, taking up to 49 days to re-surface the eastbound carriageway.

Numerous drains around Wincanton are blocked solid, perhaps by debris caused from the flooding earlier this year, but action from Highways Agency, which promises to clear the drains by December, is as sluggish as the drains themselves.
