It’s time to get your knives out, find a nice big pumpkin and get creative! Then we want you to bring the result to the Wincanton Street Market on Sunday 19th October.

The entries will be judged by Annette Yoosefinejad, the volunteer coordinator from the Balsam Centre, and a prize will be awarded for the most beautiful, scary, or surprising. While she’s there she will be happy to talk to people about the many and varied things that go on at the Balsam Centre. We will also have some recipe sheets, courtesy of Wincanton Whole Foods, to give out so that the mucky bits you carve out don’t go to waste.

We have a few more stalls this month as well, including crafts, gifts and clothes including vintage and children’s. Also food, including bread, pies, cheese, cakes, confectionary and street food. Whilst Somerset and Dorset Animal Rescue are taking a sabbatical, local community groups are represented by Wincanton Pole Dance and Fitness who will be coming to demonstrate and sell hula hoops. There will be live music too.

Joint market coordinator, Suzy Turner, says:

We’ve managed to find a stall that sells sweets and they will be bringing Halloween-themed sweets with them so people can stock up ready for those ‘trick or treaters’ at the end of the month.

The market starts at 10:00am and finishes at 3:00pm with the judging and prize presentation taking place at 2:00pm.
