At Wincanton Youth Theatre they care about putting on a great performance. But they also care about developing their members’ skills. With this in mind, in 2018, they have decided to offer their members funded examinations from the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art (LAMDA).

LAMDA is one of the UK’s oldest and most respected awarding bodies. They have been offering practical examinations in communication and performance subjects for over 130 years. During this time their qualifications have helped hundreds of thousands of candidates of all ages and abilities to develop lifelong skills.

LAMDA exams are about achievement – recognising and rewarding the endeavours of each individual – but they are also about empowerment. Our ultimate aim is to provide all our members with the opportunity to develop the life skills they need to be a success; attributes such as self-confidence and the ability to communicate clearly and present ideas.

Initially they will be offering training for the group musical theatre examinations. You can find out more about those examinations here.

If you want to find out more, pop into the Balsam Centre on Sunday afternoons and ask for Andrew. And don’t forget, their latest show is just three weeks away. Bugsy Malone is being performed on Saturday 30th September and Sunday 1st October. Tickets on the door or online: www.WincantonYouthTheatre.org/Tickets
