Ofsted: Wincanton Primary is a GOOD school!
Wincanton Primary School is celebrating following their recent Ofsted inspection that found it to be one of a few that have managed to secure the new “GOOD” standard under a new framework that came into force at the beginning of this academic year.
Wincanton Primary School pupils visit the Town Hall
Wincanton Primary School pupils visited the Town Hall on the 26th February, to hear about the role their Town Council plays for residents and, most importantly, for the children of our town. They even made a few suggestions of their own!
King Arthur's School COVID-19 update
A message from King Arthur's School, which closed on Friday 20th March in response to the COVID-19 virus outbreak. KA will be closed, but will provide childcare for the children of key workers that cannot be cared for at home.
King Arthur's School presents Bugsy Malone
Next week King Arthur’s students will perform their 2020 musical, ‘Bugsy Malone’. Cast and crew cross all year groups and have worked hard to bring you a taste of New York in the roaring 20s! Please come along for a great show, and to support these talented youngsters!
A Christmas Fair supporting schools in Henstridge
On behalf of St Nicholas Primary School and Explorers Preschool in Henstridge we are holding a Christmas fair on Friday 13th December. There'll be rides, games, food, crafts, a lantern parade and Santa's Grotto!
Horsington Church School fundraising youth market
Horsington Church School is organising its own youth market in Cole's Yard this weekend to raise funds towards refurbishing the classrooms. Hot drinks and soup, savoury and sweet nibbles, handmade arts and crafts will be for sale.
Wincanton Growing Together at Carrington House
Pupils from all three of Wincanton's schools have been collaborating with residents of Carrington House as part of a community project to revamp the care home's gardens in support of St Margaret’s Hospice’s Glorious Somerset Gardens scheme.
Wincanton Primary School thanks the community for a huge volunteer DIY effort
A team of 34 volunteers, including parents, staff and members of the community, decorated six classrooms and built a large decked stage area at Wincanton Primary School, which has been overwhelmed by the generous community support.
Remembered in Horsington
Children from Horsington Church Primary School processed 14 silhouettes, representing the 14 Horsington and South Cheriton soldiers lost to WW1, from Horsington War Memorial to St John’s Church on Friday 9th November.
WW1 fallen ‘brought back to the places they left behind’
On Friday 9th November, St John’s Church will hold a memorial service for our fallen heroes of WW1, during which a contingent of soldiers and veterans will march 14 life-size silhouettes from the war memorial to the Church.
KA students develop employment skills with Crestmoor Training
Six current Year 11 students at King Arthur’s School have gained their certificate in Skills for Employment, Training and Personal Development, after working with local training company, Crestmoor Training.
Our Lady's Summer Fayre will be on June 22nd
Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Primary School PTFA has organised dancing, face painting, equicising, BBQing, cake eating, ice creaming, raffling and more, to raise funds for the school.

Horsington Village Fete will be held on Horsington Church School grounds this year, on 9th June, 12 noon til 3pm. Expect an afternoon filled with fun for all the family, with a carnival theme!
It's Our Lady's annual Duck Race tomorrow!

A Christmas Fayre at Ansford Academy
Ansford Academy is holding a Christmas fayre and raffle next week, to raise money to purchase 3D printers and other mobile devices that will help the school to prepare students for today’s technology-rich world.
King Arthur's achieved solid GCSE results this year
Despite this year's more rigorous assessment procedures, 51% of King Arthur’s students achieved above the national standard of 5 or more GCSEs including English and Mathematics at grades A*C or 9-4 with 54% gaining standards for Maths and English.
Wincanton Duck Race returns this year on Sunday 14th May
The annual Wincanton Duck Race makes a welcome return for 2017 following a year off. It takes up its position next to the River Cale and the new play area in Wincanton's Cale Park. The fun begins at 1pm and will finish at 4pm. Come along for a family day out. The weather looks favourable, even for ducks!
