Electing a South Somerset Mayor is one of the two options that are being considered by South Somerset District Council, as part of the new arrangements for the council's governance. New legislation requires the council to change its current executive decision-making process to one of two options - a strong leader or elected Mayor.

Wincanton's Fair Trade Furniture Retailer, Myakka has won the Business of the Year Award at the Somerset Business Awards 2010. This is a huge achievement. The business was founded eleven years ago by Georgie Hopkins and Simon Whitehead and the award acknowledges the hard work that has been put in by everyone.

Wincanton Film Society - New Season 2010/11 Started September 21st
On Tuesday 21st September the Wincanton Film Society launched the new 2010/11 Film Season with "Hurt Locker". The next film (tonight in fact) is "Up In The Air" starring George Clooney, to start at 7:45pm in the KA PEC.
