Local artist Zac Greening has been working very hard creating laser visual displays to complement Wincanton’s Christmas lighting. Positioned at strategic points in the High Street the displays have attracted much praise from residents and visitors to the town.

Zac has now gone a step further, producing brand new displays for the New Year. At 9.00pm on New Year’s Eve, with celebrations warming up, people in Market Place saw the first of the new displays projected onto the building opposite the Town Hall, followed soon after with another projected on to the wall of the St. Margaret’s Hospice building opposite The Green Dragon.

The displays wish everyone a ‘Happy New Year’, followed by eye-catching fireworks. Zac’s innovative artwork once again puts Wincanton ahead of many surrounding towns and villages. The final piece of art beamed into action on the stroke of midnight, with an eye-catching laser display projected onto the wall of the Little Cake Shop in Carrington Way.

Zac’s work in the High Street has been supported by the Town Team, Town Council, Wincanton Chamber, local businesses and individuals. Zac said that he was very pleased with what has been achieved in this first year. He is confident that, subject to gaining more support and finance, future displays can be even better.
