"Snow Cake" Showing at Wincanton Film Society on Wednesday 24th

By John Smith

Snow Cake movie posterWe all live our lives on a daily basis trying our best to be nice, caring folk. We also tend to assess or judge life from a biased persepctive. We have our personal idea of how people around us should live and conduct themselves.

When things don't work or happen the way we think they should, we can become defensive and judgemental.

This film looks at the relationship between a man, traumatized after having been in a fatal car accident, but having to deal with a highly functional autistic woman.

Autism is one of those conditions that seems to be on the increase. How do we react to someone who comes into our lives, who is autistic in the real sense of the word?

Here we have A-list actors Alan Rickman and Sigourney Weaver in a film that deals with this very topic backed by a solid cast.

We're screening Snow Cake (2006) on Wednesday 24th April at King Arthur's Performance centre, accessed from the rear car park off Dancing Lane.

We look forward to seeing you all for this screening. Why not bring a friend to experience the great atmosphere at Wincanton's own home grown cinema? Help us to keep the big screen in Wincanton.

Wincanton Film Society (WFS) is not a private club. Everyone is welcome. You can come along and pay at the door, or you can take advantage of our discounted annual tickets covering our ten advertised annual screening.

An early audience at Wincanton Film Society

Paying at the door, our ten annual films would cost you £60. Buying an annual ticket for the same ten films costs £24 (2012/13) Now that's is a very good deal.

With only three films left for the 2012/13 season buying an annual ticket is not the best way forward. However, we we are already planning the 2013/14 season that will kick off in September 2013. So start planning your film season now.

Or contact us and ask us to send you details of the 2013/14 season with an application form.
