Wincantata Handbell Team

Wincantata Handbell Team have been established for 25 years. This year we are hosting a handbell rally at King Arthur’s School, Wincanton, on Saturday 14th October, to which we are expecting at least one hundred handbell ringers from a variety of groups in the local area, with approximately four hundred bells!

It will be a birthday rally for us, and it coincides with the 50th anniversary of the National Hand Bell Ringers of Great Britain to which we belong, so that is also being celebrated.

The team now comprises eleven members, but we really need and would welcome more ringers. If anyone is interested in joining us we would be delighted. We meet at Holton Village Hall most weeks on a Wednesday evening for about two and a half hours to practise. We are friendly and have a lot of fun but we take our hobby fairly seriously and try to attend as regularly as possible.

As you will see, we use conventional music and some members highlight their notes to help draw attention to them. We ring a wide variety of music, most of which is arranged for the team by our enthusiastic musical director and conductor.

Our rally will run from 12pm to 5pm, stopping for lunch and tea, and you would be welcome to pay us a visit to see and hear the teams.

If you would be interested in joining us please ring Judy for details on 01963 33834.
