Weird and Wonderful in Wincanton 2010 - Gallery

The picture shows our judges, professional photographer Trixie Hiscock, and Muriel Cairns, deputy Town Clerk just about to start the process of judging this year's Weird and Wonderful entries which came from Our Lady of Mount Carmel and Wincanton Primary Schools.

Both judges commented that this year the entries showed a larger number of pupils had really shown originality and creativity in their choices of subject, composition of their pictures and in the sensitivity to colour, contrast and texture.

Each school, guided by their teachers had approached the task differently. The Mount Carmel pupils had been let loose with cameras in the playground and accumulated a wide range of interesting photographic images before returning to the classroom to draw and colour. The pupils at Wincanton on the other hand concentrated on what they could do with their cameras, producing some powerful images.

The prizes were announced at the Town Hall at 7pm on the night of the Extravaganza when all the images entered were shown to an attentive and appreciative audience and prizes and certificates of commendation presented by Mrs Trixie Hiscock.
