On 24th October WFS is screening the film "War Horse". Come and join us for the evening at King Arthur's Performance Enhancement Centre, accessed from the rear car park. Tickets are £5 on the door. Bring friends and neighbours and enjoy the WFS experience.

This is one that I purposely avoided going to see in any mainstream cinema, knowing that we would eventually have it here in Wincanton. I am sure that this will be a very evocative film, stirring up emotions from the very depths of our being.

Today we are so used to hearing complaints about military practices when a life is lost. Modern warfare has become so clinical and sanitised that we seem to have lost touch with what can only be described as the carnage of World war One and World War Two. There were more deaths on the beach landings in Normandy on one day than in all the wars that the UK has fought in since.

This film brings us a whole new angle on this carnage. This is the story of a simple young man and his horse. Like most animal owners Albert has a strong relationship with his horse. He is responsible for its welfare. When his horse is sold to serve in the war, the bond between Albert and his horse is tested to the limits.

This is another amazing film brought to the big screen by Wincanton Film Society. The Society's role is to keep the BIG SCREEN here in Wincanton so that as many as possible can enjoy major, quality films without having to drive to other surrounding towns. It also helps that our fees are substantially less before you start talking about the cost of fuel to get there. So we invite you to join us on 24th October. Enjoy our relaxed format with a pre-film drink and nibbles. Enjoy the comfort of our tiered, padded seats on risers, our 14' x 12' screen and surround sound.

Help us to keep this facility in Wincanton. We need your support. Visit our website www.wincantonfilm.co.uk and you can see the films we have booked for this season. You can also download an application form for a season ticket. To support WFS you can simply turn up to films and pay for your ticket on the door. It's only £5 per ticket. Or, you could invest in WFS by buying a season ticket.
