The Market Garden No Longer Sells Fruit or Veg

The Market Garden, Wincanton High Street

For those of you who haven't yet been into town and seen the many miniature notices surrounding The Market Garden, Wincanton's fruit, veg and plants shop, this is a notice to inform you that from today this shop will no longer sell fruit or vegetables.

Keeping fresh produce on shelves day after day is rather laborious work, to be sure. Add to that the pressure of bigger players like Co-op and Morrisons and it's likely no surprise to anyone that Julian Shave's shop has changed gear, playing to its strengths.

For fruit and vegetables we'll now be reliant on Co-op and Morrisons. Perhaps it's something of a blessing that both ends of town still have reasonable outlets, within walking distance for most.

Not to worry; the shop's not going anywhere. You'll still be able to buy your plants there - you just won't be able to eat any of them.
