The Window is again organising an Art and Image Competition for the schools of Wincanton. All entries will be shown in a slide show at the Town Hall as part of the Christmas Extravaganza on Friday 10th Dec at 7.15pm when prizes will be given.

A scheme for two 34 metre-high wind turbines have been withdrawn by the applicant, owing to a lack of information in the plans, just two days before it was due to be discussed by the parish council.

Joint Music Trip to Germany a Great Success

Forty students from King Arthur’s and twenty from Sexey's spent half-term on an action packed trip to Germany. There they sang, played their instruments, performed at concerts, cruised down the Rhine, visited our German twin town Lahnau and had a wonderful time exploring another country and making new friends.

Children at Wincanton Primary had a close-up view of police work when the school grounds were turned into a crime scene as part of a citizenship project last week. Year 5 and 6 children started their school day as normal on Wednesday but had no idea the dummy crime scene had been set up by teachers and police officers.

A former convenience store owner and the oldest resident at a Wincanton nursing home is celebrating after reaching her 103rd birthday. Beatrice McWean celebrated the milestone with friends and family at a party last week laid on by staff at the Elroi Manor nursing home on West Hill. A nephew even flew in from Canada to deliver a birthday card in person.
