Wincanton Carnival is back after a year off, and 2019 is set to be a great show! Friday 11th October is the night, and it kicks off at 7:30pm.

We are expecting over 60 entries this year. The large carts will be there, of course, and there'll also be an old fire engine, Apollo engine and a Crispp van. The carnival royalty will have a cart that will lead the procession, and there'll be lots of groups and walkers, including three majorette troupes. Hot and cold refreshments will available all along the carnival route.

The carnival procession will follow the usual route, leaving at 7:30pm from the top of Common Road, heading down through the High Street, then down South Steet past the Landsdowne Place and Balsam Park turnings, past Wincanton Primary School, over the mini roundabout onto Southgate Road to finish in Bennetts Field trading estate.

Carnival night street collection is for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, so please give generously!

Road Closures

Road closure map for Wincanton Carnival 2019

The procession will assemble on Common Road below Mundays Mead from 4:30pm, so from this time the stretch between Mundays Mean and Shaftsbury Lane will be closed, but residents of Balsam Lane, Bramble Way and Snag Lane will have access. Common Road will also be closed to non-residents from the High Street junction down to Balsam Fields.

The intersection between Balsam Fields and Mundays Mead will remain open for residents' access. A one-way system will be implemented along Mundays Mead for access to Deanesly Way, Greenway Close, Dukes Close and the Kingwell Rise estate, with outgoing traffic via another one-way along Balsam Fields.

Diversions will be clearly marked and there will be marshals at each road closure to assist.
