Dorset County Hospital nursing staffMany will recall the Sponsored Knit which was held on March 10th 2012 during a regular coffee morning. This was in support of Wincanton Parish Church and resulted in £628 being raised to boost much needed funds.

Not only did this event raise money but it also provided an opportunity to assist another facility within our wider community. At the time this event took place it was intended to donate all garments to Yeovil & District Maternity Hospital. This produced a double headed charity event.

However, as time had slipped by I understand Yeovil had sufficient stock of garments for their needs. Enquiries were then made to find another hospital that had a need for such items. This resulted in the Special Care Baby Unit at Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester being contacted and identified as being able to use the knitted items.

Staff were on hand to receive the donation and expressed their thanks to all who were involved in producing the welcome gift. I am sure all items will provide much needed support.

Thanks go to everyone who helped or knitted items which made the event the double-headed success that it was. Well done!
