By Press Release

Father Louis in his walking gearFather Louis Beasley-Suffolk yesterday completed a taxing 10 mile walk to raise funds for the renovation and refurbishment of St Luke & St Teresa's Church, Wincanton.

The route transversed the stunning countryside between Charlton Horethorne and South Cadbury and Father Louis and a few dedicated parishioners successfully completed what has been locally known as 'The Much Heralded Athletic Event of the Year'.

Father Louis and his morale groupThe walk has been generously supported by the local community, not only by parishioners but also by the proprietors of two hostelries en route.

In the morning, the Queens Arms at Corton Denham supplied us with refreshment (non-alcoholic!) which was a much needed mid morning break with charming staff and wonderful surroundings and the day finished at 4.30 in Charlton Horethorne where mine host of the King's Arms had tea and cake ready for the exhausted walkers. This generous hospitality encapsulated all that is good about our local communities.

Thank you to all who have supported this fund raising event. It is anticipated that when all pledges are received, the total should exceed £1600.
