Arthritis Research Garden Party

The supporters of Arthritis Research UK came together for a garden party in Wincanton on the 30th July.

Despite the wind blowing under grey skies it was a pleasant and enjoyable evening, much appreciated by all who attended.

Suzie Ladbrooke, the Regional Fundraising Manager, opened the event and spoke thanking the host and taking the opportunity to talk about Biddie Lawson, who had been Secretary and founding member of the branch. In an eloquent and moving speech she described how Biddie had used her skills to organize and motivate people so exceptionally well until her sudden death a few weeks before the party. She will be greatly missed, but everyone felt sure she would have been very pleased with the turnout and support that had been shown.

The sun came out and after food and drinks, a raffle and auction was held and the whole event raised a magnificent £905.00 for the charity.

All committee members would like to thank everyone who helped, and all that turned up and made this event a success.
