Teen Ref Ellie Farrell - Premiership Referee of Tomorrow?

Wednesday 16 November 2011, 14:21
By Sean Chapman

Ellie Farrell, future Premiereship RefereeAt the end of the 2009/2010 football season Miss Ellie Farrell, then 13, a member of Wincanton Town FC (Youth Section) was forced to give up playing for her local team as they did not have enough players to make an 11-a-side team for the next season in 2010/2011. So her coach, Mrs Becky Chapman, suggested that she take an FA course to become a qualified football referee. So during the season Ellie, now 14, went on an intensive FA referee course and passed with flying colours.

Now Ellie officiates for Wincanton Town FC (Youth Section) and is often seen on a Saturday and Sunday morning dressed in her kit, refereeing for 7/9 or 11 a-side matches.

She hopes to carry this on and become an adult referee and so maybe one day she could be officiating the Premiership, The FA CUP or even the World Cup Finals!

Well done Ellie.
I have watched a couple games recently that you have taken charge of, and I must say, your are growing in confidence, and gaining the respect of the players as well as the managers.
Keep going, and well done.
