Lauren Ashford, one of only fifteen finalists in the annual competition to design a Christmas Card for Somerset and Frome MP David Heath

Lauren Ashford was presented with a certificate for being one of only fifteen finalists in the annual competition to design a Christmas Card for Somerset and Frome MP David Heath. This is a major accomplishment for this year there were some 1,500 entries from primary schools right across Somerset. As well as a commemorative certificate she also received a large House of Commons chocolate medallion in a House of Commons bag.

Ellie Robinson and Daniel Howell, winners in the Primary School section of the Weird and Wonderful in Wincanton Digital Image Competition

Ellie Robinson and Daniel Howell were the two prize winners in the Primary School section of the Weird and Wonderful in Wincanton Digital Image Competition run for the first time this year by the Wincanton Window. Editor John Baxter presented them with these mounted prints of their images. They had already received their prizes of a Graham Hiscock portrait session and a family of four ticket for the Buckhorn Weston Pantomime Grease at the presentation in the Town Hall on Friday during the Christmas Extravaganza.

There were 175 primary entries from Wincanton and Our Lady's and John reported how the judges, Muriel Cairns and Trixie Hiscock had been extremely impressed by the high standard of so many of the entries which showed such skill, imagination and eye for the unusual. All the images can now be seen on the WW, here.
