Cheese and Cider Night at Wincanton Racecourse

[UPDATE 10-05-2019:] Unfortunately, Wincanton Racecourse has just announced that Cheese & Cider Night has been cancelled due to ground conditions. Advance ticket purchases will be refunded.

If Cheddar cheese makes you chomp at the bit, or you’re a Stilton stalwart, then Wincanton Racecourse’s Cheese and Cider Night on Tuesday 14th May is the night for you. Two of Somerset’s most famous exports; pair them together and it’s a match made in heaven!

With small and large cider makers right on the racecourse’s doorstep, Cheddar a staple of Somerset’s heartland, and cheese makers aplenty across Somerset’s lush green pastures, Cider and Cheese night will give racegoers the chance to sample delicious flavours, enjoy seven races, and dance along to live music too.

“As a specialist supplier of West Country cheeses throughout the UK, Longman’s take great pleasure in supporting National Hunt Racing and in particular Wincanton with it’s strong links to the local farming community. What could be a better way to spend an evening, great racing, great cider and great cheese. Please come and try the newest cheese in our stable, ‘Twanger’.”

 - Spokesman for Longman’s Cheese

“We are very excited about the chance to combine some great Somerset passions with a fabulous night out at the races. What pairing for this evening could be better than the chance to match cheeses and celebrated ciders?”

 - Nick Rose, The Bath Soft Cheese Company

If your tastebuds yearn for more than a good Cheddar, Windyridge Cheese is renowned for its innovative flavours. Try Chip Shop Curry or Bonfire, or perhaps a nibble on some World Champion Bath Blue Cheese from Bath Soft Cheese is more to your liking. Barbers, Godminster, Park Farm, Windyridge Cheese, Wyke Farm and Curworthy Cheese will all be attending so there will be plenty to choose from.

To wash it down there’ll be tastings of cider, from apples sown, grown and harvested in Somerset.

“We’re really looking forward to our Cheese and Cider night where people can taste some really great local brands, while enjoying the racing too. It’s the last meeting of our season and we hope plenty of people will come along to enjoy a great evening at the races.”

 - Huw Williams, General Manager, Wincanton Racecourse

Tickets for the evening cost from £12. The gates open at 3:30pm, the first race is at 5:30pm and the last race at 8:30pm.
