Vehicles Targeted At Wincanton Business Park - Police Appeal For Information

Monday 12 March 2012, 15:36
By Zoe Brooks

Avon and Somerset Constabulary are appealing to the public to come forward with information to help assist with their enquiries. Between 4.30pm and 10.00pm on the evening of Sunday 4th March a number of vehicles parked on the Wincanton Business Park off of Southgate Road, Wincanton, suffered damage.

Several vehicles were targeted by currently unknown person(s) who used a sharp implement to let down the vehicle tyres. A number of businesses have reported their vehicles damaged. These consisted of cars for sale and customers' vehicles awaiting servicing. I believe a very sharp implement would have been required to puncture the tyre walls to deflate them and I would appeal to anybody who may have witnessed this incident take place or know of the perpetrators to please get in touch with us.

Businesses closed at 4:30pm and following a routine patrol of the business park, colleagues from the neighbourhood policing team found the tyres deflated at around 10.00pm. My enquiries are focusing on this five-hour period of time which the vehicles could have been damaged.

The business parks and surrounding areas are regularly patrolled by the local beat team to prevent and deter the opportunities for people to commit crime. The public can prevent themselves from becoming a victim of crime by following simple crime preventative measures. Free crime prevention advice can be found on the constabulary website at www.avonandsomerset.police.uk.

If you are able to provide the police with information about a crime please contact the general enquiries number '101'. Alternatively you can contact the independent charity 'Crimestoppers' on 0800 555 111; they will never ask for your name or attempt to trace your call.
