Earlier in the year Wincanton’s Town Team ran a High Street clean-up day. Now they are planning a Christmas Clean-Up for Saturday 5th December, to follow the annual Christmas Extravaganza on Friday 4th. Working in partnership with Street Scene, a division of South Somerset District Council, volunteers should meet outside the library in Carrington Way at 8.00am.

Street Scene will fire up their mechanical sweepers to clean the High Street roads and pedestrian walkways. The volunteers will start work at 9.00am, aiming to complete the overall clean-up by around 12.00 noon.

Street Scene will provide all the necessary tools to pick up litter and remove gum. Watch out for volunteers wearing hi-vis waistcoats. If all goes well they may even have the Town Team logo printed on them. Some may also be wearing Santa hats!

At any time during the clean-up volunteers may call into Divine Wines where they can enjoy a well-deserved hot cuppa and bit of cake.

If you would like to help but can’t spare four hours you are still welcome to join in, even if you can only give half an hour of your time. Every little helps. For more information please contact Katie Petrie-Mears on 07976 234575.
