Avon and Somerset Constabulary have issued the following appeal for witnesses to an accident in the Anchor Hill area of Wincanton.

We’re appealing for witnesses following a serious two vehicle road traffic collision in Somerset over the weekend.

It happened at 5.05pm on Saturday (11th February 2017) on the A357 Anchor Hill roundabout at Holton near Wincanton.

A BMW travelling in a westerly direction on the A371 was taking the first exit on the roundabout, intending to travel south on the A357.

A Nissan Terrano was travelling north along the A357 towards the roundabout.

The BMW is reported to have lost control as it was exiting the roundabout, crossing the centre of the road and was in collision with the Nissan travelling in the opposite direction.

The front seat passenger in the BMW was seriously injured and taken from the scene by air ambulance to Southampton Hospital with life threatening injuries.

The driver of the BMW and driver of the Nissan were both taken to Yeovil District Hospital with minor injuries.

The road was closed for seven hours to allow collision investigators to examine the scene.

They would like to hear from anyone who was in the area of the Anchor Hill roundabout or travelling on the A357 or A371 who may have information to help our enquiries.

Anyone able to help is asked to contact the collision investigation unit on 101, quoting log 738 of 11th February.”
