Several months ago King Arthur's Community School nominated Wincanton resident and local businessman Steve Lafferty to be an Olympic torch-bearer. The school was thrilled to learn that the nomination was approved by the Olympic committee for Steve's services to the school for being a mentor to students.

Steve ran his short stretch at 6.23am on Tuesday 22nd May in Taunton, watched by his family.

Steve said, "This is one of the most fantastic moments of my life. I can't believe that King Arthur's nominated me, I am very grateful to them for this honour".

Later in the morning Steve came in to the school with the torch and students queued up to have their photo taken with him. The school was buzzing with excitement!
