Tuesday 24th August was the day for those who have left KA in July to return in a state of mild hysteria to open the crucial envelopes containing their results.

Results day at King Arthur'sStaff led by Headteacher Tamra Bradbury and Deputy Head Emma Wilkes were there to give encouragement, congratulations and support as the students arrived.

Ms Bradbury paid tribute to the hard work of her students and staff as another good set of GCSE examination results was celebrated this year. Nearly 62% of students achieved five or more A* - C grades.

There certainly were some exceptional performances. Richard Kirby achieved twelve GCSEs with 8 A* grades and 2 A grades. Hannah Symes-Davidson also achieved twelve GCSEs, with 6 A* grades and 5 A grades. Other top performing students include Chester Lewis, Ben Hamblin, Joseph Morley, Jessica Potter, Emily Sherry, Shula Harvey, Ashley Merritt and Catherine Pinkawa. All students left school achieving at least one GCSE qualification or equivalent this year.

This summer King Arthur's School has successfully been re-designated a Specialist Sports College and its successes in this have continued. This is clearly shown in that the school enjoyed 100% pass rates in GCSE PE, BTEC Sport and BTEC Dance.

Tamra Bradbury told the Window that she was particularly impressed by the performance of the Science Department whose strong results included a 100% pass rate in Biology and Statistics with Physics at 96.7% and Chemistry at 90%.

More students with good resultsMore success

There were outstanding results from Year 10 students sitting GCSE Statistics a year early. All students achieved top grades - 10 A*s and 11 A grades.

As any visitor to the school knows on seeing the work everywhere on display, Art is very strong at KA and here again Ms Bradbury said results had been very good. She went on to congratulate all students on their academic achievements, together with all who had excelled in the arts, sports, vocational learning and community service during their five years at King Arthur's School.
