By Jill Morris, John Baxter, Tom Carroll

JB: Turning up to photograph I was amazed to learn that this production directed by Jill Morris, Head of Maths and Emma Fletcher, Head of Music had been achieved after only two weeks of intensive rehearsal. Joseph is a wonderfully accessible musical telling the epic Biblical story of how sartorially spoilt youngest son Joseph, after being sold into slavery in Egypt by his jealous brothers, rose so high in Pharoah's service that he was able to save his family from famine in Palestine.

Are these girls Egyptian? I'm going with Egyptian...

The songs are great and as the pictures show the costumes spectacular and the singing, acting and dancing of the students was enthusiastic, expressive and an amazing achievement for so short a time. Behind the students was of course the enthusiasm, dedication and the commitment of a team of staff and parents who helped with costumes, lighting, backstage, playing in the orchestra and singing in the choir. Then there was the inspired idea of taking many of the students to Bristol to see a professional production just before they started rehearsing.

Can he really fly in that thing?

JM: This has been a real team effort. The students were asked to give us a fortnight of their lives, rehearsing every day and learning their parts in a very short time. We are delighted with the results and thank everyone including parents for their support.

It was great fun at Bristol and the production at school was similar. I have really enjoyed putting on this show and I have learnt a lot about myself, and my confidence has grown. If you get a chance to see Joseph then do.

Lily Carswell (Year 9 Student): Joseph was a very enjoyable performance. Everybody looked the part and acted their character very well. The singing was wonderful and everyone remembered their words. Tom Carroll, who played Joseph, acted his part very well. I was amazed that this quality production was produced in only two weeks. The Director was fantastic and did a great job - all in all it was a marvellous performance by everyone that took part.

Beth Lucas (Year 8 Student): Joseph was a lively, exciting and feel good musical - my favourite scene was at the end when they sang "Any Dream will Do" because it reflects all the hard work and teamwork they used to pull it together. The parts were well acted and they sang very well, with great music and well choreographed dancing. It was fun to watch from start to finish and a fun night out for the family!

Girl has a fez.
