Franks Foster's conducted tour around Wincanton on Friday 25th May attracted forty members of the Museum and History Society and other interested observers. Starting in the Balsam Centre, Frank introduced his tour of the town and pointed out some amazing facts – such as: there were once 52 pubs in the town and 17 stage coaches passing through every day!

There was a great deal more to his talk than that and we were lucky in having a perfect sunny evening and the excellent turnout was divided into three groups who walked down the length of the High Street, down Mill Street to the parish Church and finished off being shown the outside and garden of The Dogs, Wincanton Manor in South Street courtesy of the owners, Anna and Philip Hughes.

It was a great evening, a fascinating tour and it will be followed up with a complete set of photographs covering the tour with notes by Frank in a few weeks time so everyone can be enlightened.
