Castle Cary Identifies Local Priorities in PACT Meeting

By Charlie Allen

Castle Cary held its first Partner and Community Together (PACT) meeting for several years on 19/02/13. I would like to thank all who attended to have their say on local priorities. The following issues were identified by the public as being of the highest priority:

  1. Parking and obstruction on Woodcock St, Castle Cary particularly in relation to use of the Barclays' cash ATM machine.
  2. Speeding vehicles on the A371 past Cumnock Crescent, Castle Cary in the 30mph zone.
  3. Parking along South Cary Lane, Castle Cary causing obstruction to junctions and forcing vehicles into oncoming traffic.

The police will be the lead agency for the second issue. I am looking for volunteers to set up a Community Speed Watch scheme. Anyone interested in volunteering please contact myself on 07824 600330 or email either [] or [].

Issues 1. and 3. will be a multi-agency approach involving the Council, Highways and the police.

We will take these 3 issues forward and will report on progress when we hold the next PACT meeting in six months time.
