Burglaries in Corton Denham

Thursday 16 February 2012, 13:08
By John Winfield

Avon and Somerset Constabulary are appealing for information from the public to assist with enquiries in relation to two burglaries in the village of Corton Denham.

Overnight, between Sunday 5th February and Monday 6th February, unknown persons have forced open a ground floor window at one location and stolen a variety of power tools. In a second similar incident overnight within the village, unknown persons have broken through the locking mechanisms to three garage doors and a wooden shed. Once inside the offenders then made off with a variety of garden tools including a hedge trimmer, lawn mower, garden strimmer and a wheel barrow.

PCSO John Winfield commented "I would appeal to anybody who may have heard or seen anything in relation to these incidents to please, contact us. Additionally I recommend that the public ensure that their properties and outbuildings are secure to prevent further incidents. Free crime reduction advice can be found on the force website or can be given by the local neighbourhood beat team."

Enquiries are ongoing to identify the offenders and to locate the missing property.

Anybody who can assist with the Police investigation is asked to contact the non-emergency contact number '101'. Alternatively the public can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 (they will never take your name or trace your call).

Further information and free crime reduction advice can be found on the Constabulary website - www.avonandsomerset.police.uk.
