An Illustrated History - Somerset and Dorset Railway

From Cardiff to Cherbourg is the title chosen by local railway and history enthusiast Peter Lewis. It is the story of the quirky Somerset and Dorset Railway, which was much loved in its time and which provided a holiday route from the North and Wales through picturesque Wincanton and on to Bournemouth (for some the embarkation point for the mysterious Continent).

The story has been organised by the Wincanton and District Museum and History Society and will be told in an illustrated talk in Wincanton's Balsam Centre on Friday 30th November at 7.30pm.

As always these fascinating evenings are free for members and £6.00 at the door for non-members and include refreshments.
