3-2-1 is a Run England project which aims to provide a range of marked-out running or jogging routes across the country. A flat 1km route has been mapped out at Wincanton's Cale Park (recreation ground) which you can walk, jog or run, and it's also suitable for wheelchairs and buggys.

There are directional stickers on posts along the route, and a sign with a map and details of the route just across the old bridge near the car park, beneath the weeping willow tree. It's a circular route that uses tarmacked paths which makes it suitable for wheelchair users and those with pushchairs.

Distance 1km (0.62 miles)
Walking time 15 minutes
Jogging time 10 minutes
Running time 5 minutes
Terrain Tarmacked paths and well-kept recreation ground field
Amenities Free parking, play area, Cale Park Kitchen café, skate park, MUGA, toilets
Accessibility Suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs

Head towards the avenue of trees along Cemetery Lane, to the right of the start point. Turn left just before the trees to follow the footpath parallel to the tree line, towards the cemetery.

Turn left where the footpath meets the lane oposite the cemetery entrance and proceed towards Cale Park Kitchen. Pass between Cale Park Kitchen and the scout hut and then turn left at the footpath junction. Turn right at the next junction to head towards the skate park and MUGA.

Turn around when you reach the end of the skate park and head back towards the play area. Turn right and follow the path back to the start. This can be repeated to increase your distance and is an easy flat route, so suitable for children too.

This route has been organised in collaboration between South Somerset District Council and Wincanton Town Council. There's also an activity trail in the works to help you explore the park and it's many features. If you have any questions, please contact Wincanton Town Council on 01963 31693, or email .
