Wincanton Parkinsons Group meeting in Charlton Musgrove Memorial Hall

At our March meeting we will be changing from a Support Group to a Full Branch of Parkinson's Disease Society of Great Britain.

Known as Parkinson's UK, we will be inviting senior staff from London HQ, plus local dignitaries and members of other groups and Branches to celebrate this milestone. We have only been running just over three years and started with 16 members and now have over 80 members.

We meet at Charlton Musgrove Memorial Hall, Shalford Lane, Charlton Musgrove Wincanton from 2.30pm to 4.30pm. Here is a summary of forthcoming events.

Games at Wincanton Parkinsons Group

18th March 2014

Inaugural Meeting with AGM. The day we hope to become a branch. Your chance to vote for hope your committee members.

15th April 2014

Speech Therapist - Deborah Woolven is a specialist Speech and Language Therapist based at west Mendip Hospital. She has been recommended by a member, so expect some good tips and a few exercises to keep us all communicating well.

20th May 2014

Growing up in the East End of London - Steve Derby will be taking us through some of his childhood memories, some of them from the book he has written.

17th June 2014

A World of Silence – June Beech has spent the last thirty years battling with increasing deafness, going from normal hearing to no hearing now. Many of us may face hearing difficulties in the future and her insight, strategies and experience could be the help we might need.

15th July

Outing – having been rained off in May and June in previous years we are hoping July will be third time lucky weather-wise. Avebury is the possible destination (proper coach transport would be on offer) but please let Julie know what you think.

It really makes me smile to see such a lovely peace of news, especially in this area of care.
Having worked in the care industry for quite some time I recognize what a great milestone this is for you.

Congratulations.
Keep up the great work
