Wincanton and District Gardeners' Annual Show - Coming Soon
Wincanton & District Gardeners' Annual Show will be held on Saturday 1st September, 2012 in the Memorial Hall, Wincanton.
We encourage everyone, member or non member, to enter our show. Entrants may be experienced or beginners; we have novice classes for those who have not won any prize in a particular class before.
Our schedule with all details is available from the Library, Clementinas or the Town Hall.
There is a range of classes: vegetables, fruit, flowers, photography, handicrafts, wine making and home-craft which includes baking and preserves. There are a number of classes for children too.
We set up our entries on the Friday evening preceding Show Day or early in the morning of the Saturday before the judges arrive at 10.30am. There are stewards to help exhibitors to set up to show things off well. There are certificates to be won and many cups presented by past members. In addition we award a Banksian medal supplied by the Royal Horticultural Society for the entrant with the most points and a runner up Bronze medal.
The Hall opens at 2.30pm when entrants and members of the public are invited to look around at the exhibits. We have a catering team and home-made teas can be bought. There will be a raffle and prize-giving later in the afternoon. It is an enjoyable day and we hope you may wish to take part.
