Could you help local adults to learn to read? Read Easy Blackmore Vale North is looking for a Coordinator and a Secretary to join their team of volunteers.

We are affiliated with the national charity, Read Easy UK, and we provide free one-to-one reading coaching for adults. Our group covers Gillingham, Mere, Shaftesbury, Wincanton, Sherborne, Sturminster Newton and surrounding villages.

We are looking for a volunteer to cover Gillingham, Wincanton and Mere as part of a team of three coordinators. The Coordinator role is central to the running of our group as the first point of contact for adults who want to learn to read. You will be responsible for matching the Reader with a suitable volunteer Reading Coach and then providing each pair with ongoing support throughout their reading journey.

If you have excellent people skills and can contribute between 8 and 10 hours a week to the role, we’d love to hear from you.

In return we can offer full training, a supportive team, the covering of reasonable expenses and an incredible feel-good factor about the impact you make.

We are also looking for a Secretary to join our Management Team. Maybe you have excellent organisational skills and can help us arrange meetings, take minutes and keep files.

For an informal chat about these roles or information about how to apply, please contact Murray Walker at or telephone him on 01747 822500. You will also find information on the Read Easy UK website.
