The Wincanton Mayor's Ball held on Saturday 16th April, was a sell out two weeks before the event, and culminated in a resounding success.

The Ball was a charity event in aid of The Friends of Wincanton Community Hospital, and it provided an excellent occasion to launch a £70,000 appeal for a Scanner. This is the funding required to provide the addition of a Scanner facility at Wincanton Community Hospital.

At the time of the announcement Wincanton GP practise immediately kick-started the appeal with a donation of £500.

The Mayors Ball itself has generated a profit in excess of £2,500 ensuring the appeal has got off to a flying start.

The Mayor and Friends of Wincanton Community Hospital express their thanks to everyone who sponsored the event or donated prizes.

It was particularly pleasing to witness the response and support from the public regarding ticket sales, which contributed to the overall success.

I would like just like to thank Richard & The Friends of Wincanton Community Hospital and the people of Wincanton for supporting the ball and helping to launch our scanner appeal, we are aiming to have an x-ray facility and ultra sound scanner at your local hospital
Together with your great support we can do this
