Three Wincanton businesses have got together to provide a free business support service for local business in Wincanton. They are offering a full day of excellent guest speakers and local experts from a variety of business fields with the aim of providing a hub of business excellence in Wincanton. Visitors can stay for the whole day or just drop in to watch a speaker and get some free advice.

The event, entitled 'The Business Improvement Forum' is on Wednesday 6th April at Wincanton Racecourse, from 10.00am to 5.00pm and speakers include, Rupert Cox, Chief Executive of the Somerset Chamber of Commerce, EDF Energy talking about opportunities for local business from the £10 billion Hinckley Project, BT talking about Broadband in Somerset and the West and ADK providing useful advice on social media.

The experts offering free advice to business visitors include; Sales, Marketing, HR & Employment Law, Health, Safety & Management Systems, Accountancy, Banking, Legal, Recruitment, Virtual P.A. services, Business Link, and Somerset Chamber of Commerce and more, the Forum aims to really put Wincanton firmly on the map as the place to do business!

The event is the brainchild of four locally based businessmen, Gary Timmins, Rory Graham, David Osborne and Adrian Pitt, who all felt Wincanton needed a support network for the ever-increasing number of local businesses to build relationships and get good advice. They have formed an alliance entitled 'South West Success 4 Business' to promote this initiative with support from Business Link.

David Osborne comments "We felt there was a need for an event in Wincanton where local business could both show off their skills and provide help and support for each other to help move forward and avoid potential pitfalls. We've provided top class speakers, a number of experts to provide free advice and networking opportunities for people to build relationships, all in an excellent local venue."

Well done guys. I was only able to attend for the first hour or so, and the last hour of the event, but I took onboard some good stuff that will help me in my own business.

This is the sort of thing that we need in this area, evolving with the needs of our business community. I hope that you will be happy to work with WBT as we plan events for members and friends along the way.

Keep up the great work.
