SSDC Hosts Area East Community Forum on Tuesday 17th July

South Somerset District Council logoDo you want help and ideas for your local fund raising or project? Do you want to influence and give feedback to local services such as Police, District Council, Fire, Yarlington Homes or the Balsam Centre?

South Somerset District Council is hosting an Area East Community Forum on Tuesday 17th July. This event will enable you to:

  • Find out more about what is going on now in your area;
  • Help you to find more volunteers;
  • Meet some of the organisations who provide services and quiz them on how they run things;
  • Find out what they do;
  • Discuss the help available to you to get things done in your community;

Be there; spread the word in your community; bring others with you.

The Area East Community Forum is being held at Ansford Academy, Castle Cary. It will start at 6.30pm and run until 9.00pm. The programme for the event will run in the following order:

6.30pm Arrivals, refreshments and networking
7.00pm Welcome and introduction followed by a series of short presentations to include:
Somerset Community Foundation
Devon and Somerset Fire Rescue
8.00pm Networking session - time to meet with the speakers and various local services/organisations
9.00pm Close

Cllr Mike Lewis, Area East Chairman said "The Area East Community Forum is an excellent way for all community activists to get involved in projects and influence local services in the area. The forum gives local people from Wincanton, Castle Cary, Milborne Port, Ilchester, Bruton and all the other surrounding areas in Area East the chance to network with local services and organisations. I believe this should be an exciting event to attend and will help local community activists to get on their way."

The Area East Community Forum is for people who work to improve the lives of people and groups within their communities in the parishes of Abbas & Templecombe, Ansford, Babcary, Barton St. David, Bratton Seymour, Brewham, Bruton, Carymoor, Castle Cary, Charlton Horethorne, Charlton Musgrove, Charlton Adam, Charlton Mackrell, Chilton Cantelo, Compton Pauncefoot, Corton Denham, Cucklington, Henstridge, Horsington, Ilchester, Keinton Mandeville, Kingsdon, Kingweston, Limington, Marston Magna, Milborne Port, Mudford, North Cadbury & Yarlington, North Vale, Pen Selwood, Pitcombe, Rimpton, Shepton Montague, South Cadbury, Sparkford, Stoke Trister, Sutton Montis, Queen Camel, West Camel, Wincanton and Yeovilton.
