Knitted teddy bearKnitting waresThe K.tog group have had some impressive successes recently. Some members of the group exhibited their work in the craft section of Wincanton Garden Society's annual show and, in the knitting class, one member's large, furry and very cuddly teddy bear won first prize, followed by another member's silky mohair stole in a lacy stitch which came second. 'Simply Knitting', the national knitting magazine, recently chose 'K.tog' as its club of the month - so they were at the dizzy heights of national press!

The group knit all kinds of things - ranging from mobile phone bags, fingerless gloves and slippers. Some members stick to knitting garter stitch squares, others make complicated lace. People knit clothes, dolls, and before the festive season, tree decorations for Christmas - everything!

The group meet at the Balsam Centre around 7.45pm on Monday evenings and Jo Furneaux, group leader, puts on the kettle as members trickle in, after which out comes the knitting together with chatting and that's it until it is time to go home.
