Students at King Arthur's School are celebrating their GCSE grades
After an incredibly challenging second half to this academic year, King Arthur’s School is proud to share the success of its Year 11 students.
Following the Government announcement that exams would not take place this year, the School is pleased and relieved to report that students have received grades which truly reflect their hard work, commitment and dedication to not just their exams, but also their future success. The rapid upward trajectory of this year’s results shows just how hard these young people have worked throughout their time with us.
“I cannot congratulate our students enough for their attitude during what has been a challenging year, and also for the wonderful outcomes they have achieved. The whole School wishes our Year 11s every success for the future!
“It is important to remember that every result received today is a reflection of many years of learning; it is right to celebrate the decision by Ofqual to amend its position on the award of grades. Albeit a last minute change, strewn with administration issues and causing stress for all involved, it means our students will receive a set of results, enabling them to move on to their choice of next steps.
“As a school, we are proud that the results achieved today will give our students such a wide range of future opportunities. Students this year move on to study across 9 different sixth form colleges or schools, with plans to progress their learning through A Levels, BTECS or a wide range of apprenticeships, spanning many vocations. We are extremely proud that most students are moving on to continue their studies through Level 3 qualifications and that all of our students have secure destinations.
“Every one of our students should be rightly proud of how they have handled this challenging time. They and their families have coped admirably with the disappointment of having no exams to validate their hard work, the unprecedented lockdown situation and the delay of their ‘end of school’ progression rituals. Whilst we managed to squeeze in our end of Year 11 Leavers Celebration the day before we locked down, we are hopeful that our prom and celebration events will be able to run later this year, PHE guidelines allowing.

“I feel really great. I know I’ve worked for it – it’s been very stressful but I’m pleased with my grades. I’m now going on to Yeovil College to study Maths and Physics.”
