August in Wincanton is a great month if you like playing and having fun. The new Cale Park play area has been open to the public since the beginning of the month, but the official opening ceremony for both the park and the new footbridge will be on Thursday 25th August, to coincide with the second of two Play Days organised by South Somerset District Council this summer.

The ceremony will commence at 11am on the new bridge. Cale Park Working Group Chairman, Councillor Ray Tudgay will welcome all who attend and introduce guest of honour Simon Catford from Viridor Credits, the principle financial sponsor of the works, who will then cut the ribbon to officially open the play park.

Councillors and invited guests will then tour the park before retiring to the David Sharp Centre for refreshments.

The play park upgrade was the first milestone in the complete refurbishment of Cale Park. The new equipment and enormous sand pit is a breath of fresh air, with yet more exciting features to be added in the coming months.
