The MUGA (Multi-Use Games Area) construction underway

A couple of months ago Councillor David Norris was pleased to announce to the Town Council that he and his team had secured all the finance needed to purchase and install a MUGA (Multi-Use Games Area. Not a sanctioned thug to keep us all in line).

The MUGA is being built just behind the existing skate-park and provides an excellent enhancement to the existing facilities. When completed, the MUGA will provide marked courts for 5-a-side football and basketball. The MUGA will have the benefit of floodlighting to allow evening use. The flood lighting will be button-operated, giving a set period of lighting before having to be re-set.

Work started on Monday with the erection of the site safety fencing and the breaking of turf. Speaking to the site manager, he said that the MUGA should be completed and ready for use over the next four weeks.

The MUGA and skateboard areas also form part of the overall major re-development of Cale Park. Once finished, Cale Park will provide residents and visitors with a quality extensive recreational area. Surely it will be a great asset for the whole community.

[UPDATE - 6th July]

Great work by the Town Council. The MUGA complements the skate-park and both show how committed the Council is to the welfare of younger residents as well as to making Cale Park an attractive and exciting place to visit. Let's hope that some local developers are tempted to join the party.
