Lemon Tree Delicatessen, Wincanton

Ever since they quietly moved into Wincanton nearly five years ago to set up the LEMON TREE, their High Street deli and bakery, Alan and Chantal Wedderburn have set a standard for baking and catering excellence that is hard to beat. It is also a pleasure to taste.

Chantal holding cheese sconesAlan is a pastry chef with over fifty years’ experience of baking and confectionary. He rises early and daily produces his bread, rolls, scones, pastries, pies, and quiches in his on-site bakery while Chantal serves in their shop. She produces the most delicious fresh and toasted sandwiches and ciabattas, all served with salad and attracting lunch time queues. They come at remarkably reasonable prices.

Increasingly they have been asked to provide commercial catering and lunches for local businesses, councils and professional bodies in the Wincanton area who know that here is someone you can rely on.

Chantal, who comes from Cape Town, met Alan, from Newcastle, in South Africa and there they ran a restaurant in the Cape for ten years, so now she has over thirty years of catering experience.

Do drop in for coffee or tea, or to choose a light lunch or something delicious for later. You know it will have been made with both pride and care. As Chantal says, “To do this job you need to love what you do and be prepared to really work at it.
