It’s not often we start a recruitment advertisement with a quote from a colleague who is leaving to travel around the world, but we’d like to think this says a lot about our company style:

“My whole attitude has changed since coming here and I’ve really loved working with most of the people on my shift. For anyone I know who is looking for a job I shall be definitely recommending you guys. You treat your staff fantastically!”

Flavourworks could never exist without committed and enthusiastic people choosing to work with us and we work hard at making sure people enjoy working here, know what is expected of them and understand how the business is performing.

Flavourworks has one aim in life – to make inspirational ingredients for meals everywhere. Based here in Wincanton we produce over 3 million portions for all of the key UK retailers, everything from flavoured butters to cooked sauces, marinades to cheese melts. If it goes on, in or around food – we make it!

Our business continues to grow, we have strong plans for the future and we are always looking to recruit good people to come and join the team.

The Job

The Flavourworks logoIf you are a team player, have a good level of English and the ability to communicate well with others, then come join us as a Production Operative. Previous food experience is helpful, but not essential as we will always train successful candidates.

This is a full-time, permanent job, working 39 hours per week on a weekly alternating shift pattern of 6-2pm week 1 and 2-10pm week 2. (Friday 6-1pm and 1-8pm). There is often the opportunity for additional paid overtime, especially during busy periods such as the run up to Christmas.

It’s a varied role, and you’ll be doing a number of different tasks such as weighing, mixing and packing ingredients and finished product. As you learn more you will start to operate and clean key machinery – the job also calls for frequent physical and manual handling of products so it helps if you are reasonably fit.

We offer a starting rate of £9.13 per hour, but once you have passed your 3 month probation period you will move to £9.47. If you are interested in learning how to operate some of our more specialist machinery then you will also get a weekly supplement which takes you to £10.75 after successfully completing training on your first machine, and a maximum of £11.26 if you learn how to operate two more pieces of kit.

Starting salary: £9.13 (equivalent £18k pa)

Benefits:

  • Free on-site parking
  • Company sick pay scheme
  • Healthcare cash plan
  • Bike to work scheme
