Newcomers to the sport of horse racing will have a dedicated member of Wincanton’s team to accompany them throughout the day, to help demystify the ins and outs of a day at the races on its Newcomers’ Day on 4th January 2020.

Wincanton is twinned with the German town of Lahnau, and the Twinning Association has been organising exchange visits for many years. Our German friends have sent us a message regarding Brexit, and our Association has responded.
Our Myakka, now art in Devon
The Myakka warehouse outlet in Wincanton has now closed, but that's not the end of its story. Myakka is now part of the Ian Snow family, an ethical homewares company based in Devon, and founders Georgie Hopkins and Simon Whitehead couldn't be happier.
The newly restored statue of Nathaniel Ireson is being unveiled on Monday
On Monday 16th December, the Mayor of Wincanton will be unveiling the newly restored statue of Nathaniel Ireson in the grounds of the Parish Church of St. Peter and St. Paul. The head has finally been reattached! Everyone is welcome.
Wincanton Town Council has a vacancy - will you stand?
A casual vacancy has arisen on Wincanton Town Council due to resignation. Since no electors have called for an election, the Council will fill this vacancy by co-option at its meeting Monday 27th January 2020. Contact the Clerk for an application form.
Wincanton Over-70s Christmas Lunch
Wincanton Over-70s Christmas Lunch was held on Sunday 1st December 2019 at King Arthur's School. With entertainment from Wincanton Youth Theatre, and help from KA staff, Year 11 pupils and volunteers, ninety four residents had a great day.
Wincanton Youth Theatre presents ‘Now That’s What I Call a WYT Christmas!’
Members of the group have been busy putting together a fully festive delight; a show that compliments all elements of the performing arts, including singing, dancing and acting, to take place at King Arthur’s School on the weekend of 14th and 15th December.
Bruton Choral Society Christmas Concert
We’d love you to come to our next big event: the Christmas concert in St Mary's Church, Bruton. It’s a wonderful way to start the festive season in a beautiful setting. Choir items and solos will be intertwined with traditional carols for all to join in.

The Wincanton area ecumenical choir, the Pilgrim Singers, have all been rehearsing with enthusiasm for their annual charity Christmas concert next Sunday, 15th December, which this year will be supporting the CAT Bus.

Olympians help Wincanton Sports Centre raise funds for employee with brain tumor
Two Olympic swimmers joined fundraisers at an event held in support of 22-year-old Laura Skerritt, a teaching instructor at Wincanton Sports Centre, who is living with a tennis ball-sized brain tumour.
