Wincanton Primary School is celebrating following their recent Ofsted inspection that found it to be one of a few that have managed to secure the new “GOOD” standard under a new framework that came into force at the beginning of this academic year.

Christopher Durrant, a former sheet metal worker at Wincanton Transport & Engineering, has issued an appeal for help from his ex-work colleagues after being diagnosed with mesothelioma; an incurable cancer caused by exposure to asbestos.

Wincanton’s second annual book festival took place on Saturday 7th March, involving several High Street venues including Wincanton Library. Local authors attended to meet visitors, give talks, and entertain the children. Roll on next year!

The Pilgrim Singers raise £1000 for the CAT Bus
The Pilgrim Singers recently presented a cheque for £1000 to the CAT Bus, raised at a concert they gave just before Christmas in aid of the South Somerset service that provides much needed local transport, and which needs to raise up to £20,000 annually from voluntary donations.

I’m delighted that so many of you have already visited my small flower essence shop at the end of the Applegarth Emporium since I opened last year. As far as I know, this is the first shop of its kind in the UK where you can come and buy flower essences from the person who has made them.
