Wincanton Rugby Club Update - September 2009

Wincanton Rugby Club LogoWe have just enjoyed an excellent season, despite a slow start. We only missed out on promotion on the final day! As a result we start this season in the Dorset and Wiltshire League 3. Already we have seen a decent influx of new players for pre-season training, so we are hoping to get off to a flying start to carry on where we left off.

We have also moved to a New Home. This is after a period of uncertainty over our future. We now are able to use a combination of King Arthur's School and Wincanton Sports Centre for matches and The Nog Inn in Wincanton for our social events and after game refreshments. Whilst we are delighted to have secured the short term future of our club and are proud of the work put in on our excellent new pitch, we are aware that for the team to grow we will need to find a permanent, cost effective home in the next 5 years.

If you are interested in playing why not turn up for a spot of training on Tuesday night at 7pm at the Sports Centre?  Our first League Game in on Saturday 19th September when we will be at home to Weymouth. Spectators are welcome to come and watch us and for more info on the club call our Secretary, Owen Davies on 01963 370124.

Mark Henley.
