Wincanton & District Royal British Legion branch scooped one of the top awards at the County of Somerset RBL Conference. The branch won the coveted Colin McKenzie Cup for the third year running. The cup is awarded each year by the County of Somerset Royal British Legion to the “most efficient branch in the county with between 100 and 500 members”.
2009 was an exceptional year and the award, amongst other things, acknowledged the contribution made by the branch in supporting Wincanton, and was given to our local military unit - The Commando Helicopter Force based at RNAS Yeovilton.
The branch has also greatly increased its membership and annual Poppy Appeal collections year after year.
